If you normally use gel packs for energy during your long runs you should try an alternative. I was a big fan of Sport Beans until this weekend. On my 13 mile run Saturday tried the GU Chomps a friend gave me for Christmas. I’m hooked! They have more flavor than Sport Beans and are easier to chew and swallow. Their consistency is similar to gummi bears candy but not as sticky. Gels always have a strange consistency to me. Are you supposed to chew it or just swallow? And if you don’t have water with you they are hard to choke down. I didn’t have that problem with Sport Beans or Chomps. In fact the Chomps were so juicy that I didn’t feel like I needed water afterwards.
