Bored of the Treadmill? Try “Hills”

Most days I prefer to run outside. But some days (like today) I just didn’t have the time to get bundled up and get a good distance in outside. So, I decided that 3 miles on the treadmill was better than nothing.  I knew I’d get bored though so I made it a hill training day.  One of the best things about a treadmill is you can set the hills when you want them.  So today I alternated hills and flat every quarter-mile.  In fact the last two miles I increased the speed of the flats to make it an interval workout also.  Mixing up the run like that makes the distance and time go faster and it gives a great workout.  I hate to admit it but it was a much better workout than I would have gotten if I rushed outside this morning.
